Group-action site The Point has just announced that they’ve launched an application called Ultimatums on Facebook that allows groups to create an action that’s contingent upon gaining a certain level of consensus among the group. When the level of consensus is reached, the action is set in motion.

This strikes me as a potentially useful model for certain groups within a business to float ideas around the team to get that all-important buy-in in a less intimidating environment. It might not work for every team, but those that are more inclined to be on a social networking site like Facebook and are able to consider ideas with a lower level of discussion and brainstorming could find it a more comfortable way to consider a wider range of ideas.

Have you used Facebook at work or at home?
