A few weeks ago, I posted the Top 5 Funny Sales Scenes from Hollywood.  That got me thinking about sales-oriented movies what were more serious, so I located these five dramatic clips, all from Hollywood movies, that feature characters who are sales professionals.

What’s interesting about these clips is that each one teaches an important lesson about selling in the real world, so I’ve added my own comments about what I learned from watching the movie.  Warning: some of these clips include strong language… but it’s tame compared to what I’ve actually heard in real-life sales teams.)

I’ve included polls so you can vote for your favorite, just like the people who vote for the Oscars.

RE: Vote: The Academy Awards for Selling

I agree with Geoffrey's comments on Will Smith's performance.... It is indeed the most accurate portrayal of cold-calling I've witnessed on the silver screen.... Too many movies that feature sales reps (Tommy Boy comes to mind) skip over what it takes to just even get an appointment....

Go ahead and call me crazy, but despite Alec Baldwin's great performance as Blake in Glengarry Glen Ross, but there was nothing else in the movie that displayed any solid sales skills.... And on the anniversary DVD, the claim is made that the movie is used for sales training by certain companies.... Personally, I don't see why....

With that being said, Glengarry Glen Ross is a fantastic movie (although I had to watch it twice in order to "get it", because it demands the viewer focus on the dialogue and not visuals) and it's easily in my Top 5 favorites of all time....
