I was shocked yesterday when I received credible information that a source I’ve used in this blog has apparently been plagiarizing content.
His name is Bob Beck and he’s author of the (ironically-titled?) book “Mutual Respect.”
Here are two of his web posts (captured and stored safely so that they won’t be changed) that have content that has apparently been presented not just without attribution, but with the implication that Beck is the author:
Note: the above are .mht files that don’t display correctly in Firefox, but they work fine in Internet Explorer.
Obviously, somebody is copying somebody, and the dates on the web pages strongly suggest that it’s Beck who’s doing the copying.
I have in my possession other examples of apparent plagiarism, including an entire white paper from Beck that appears to be lifted from a white paper originally published by Siebel Systems.
I’ve seen sales trainers “borrow” ideas, but when they use someone else’s actual words, they almost always provide some attribution.
This is the first time I’ve seen a sales trainer apparently take content from another trainer and simply stick his name on it.
Bob, are you out there? Hello?? Send us an explanation and I’ll be happy to post it here.
UPDATE (10/21): Still no word from Bob Beck. Here’s a post from Trusted Advisors Associates detailing what appears to be an example of Bob Beck selling plagiarized material.
