If you’re serious about learning how to sell — and about issues relating to sales process and sales management, you’ve just got to check out the new BNET feature, SellingPower Videos. CLICK HERE.

The host and interviewer for the videos is Gerhard Gschwandtner, the publisher of SellingPower magazine, which is the world’s only publication that focuses on professional selling skills, sales motivation and sales management inside B2B firms. I’m a frequent contributor to that magazine (mostly in the areas of sales training and CRM), so I’m probably biased, but I think it’s a wildly useful publication for anyone involved in sales.

The videos cover a wide range of subjects and always feature a top expert in whatever topic is under discussion. It’s also cool to have Gerhard as the interviewer because he is kind of a legend in the sales business, not just because of the magazine (which is an interesting sales success story in its own right), but because he personally knows just about every top sales executive and bestselling business author in the world.

As the library of videos available on BNET grows, I’ll be tying my posts back to them, so if I’m talking about a certain element of the sales process, and quoting an expert, you’ll be able to see what the expert had to say when interviewed on video. By the way, I was instrumental in bringing BNET and SellingPower together to provide these videos to you inside the BNET conen and must say that I’m really excited about seeing them available in the BNET context.

    Selling Power

    Geoff,
Thanks for all the kind words about Selling Power. I want to share two quick stories illustrating how Selling Power creates conflict around the world. First, a sales manager from the New York Times told me that Selling Power created a security problem in her office. Each time she gets her magazine, she puts it on her desk to read and the moment she leaves the office, her copy is gone! She said, "I lost my last three copies, and from now on I'll have to lock it up."
A month ago I met a salesman at a trade show who just moved to Israel from South Africa. He said that Selling Power caused the biggest argument he ever had with his wife in 27 years of marriage. He explained that when he tried to pack up 25 years of back issues of Selling Power, his wife said, "no way" and an argument ensued that ended with the specific threat, "you have to choose between me and Selling Power." After a 24-hour period of radio silence he ended up talking his wife into a compromise where he was allowed to take ten issues of the magazine.
