In a previous post, I recently asked which celebrity or politician you’d hire for a sales job. At the time, I also asked the same question of three of the world’s top sales trainers. Here’s what they had to say:
- Rudy Gulliani, because he is able to rally people with different opinions around a cause for the common good. Keath Eades, CEO of Sales Performance International, author of The New Solution Selling (McGraw-Hill, 2003).
- Bill Clinton, because he has great knowledge, incredible people skills and most importantly when he talks you are convinced he sees the world through the same set of eyes that you do. That makes him credible, believable and likeable and that is the winning combination in selling. Jerry Acuff, president of the Delta Leadership Group, author of The Relationship Edge in Business (Wiley, 2004).
- Arnold Schwarzenegger, because he is highly motivated, exudes positive energy and is smart and highly persuasive. Linda Richardson, executive chairman of The Richardson Group, author of The Sales Success Handbook (McGraw Hill, 2003)
I think the list is interesting, because there’s at least one politician on the list above that I would fire in a heartbeat. Anyone care to vote? Which of the three “candidates” above would be the best performer in a sales job?
