Failure is often what teaches managers and executives how to succeed. Bob Seelert, chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi and five-time CEO, discusses what happens when high performers struggle, and why people who are used to winning need to get more comfortable with losing.

RE: When High Performers Struggle | HBR IdeaCast

Stupendous thought shared by Bob. I am sure people who strive hard to succeed would burn themselves so much for the cause, but when things fail they equally curse themselves for the failure too. I am not sure if others persuasion will help them in this situation, especially when they understand after careful retrospection that the very source of failure is the actual factor that they were intending to improve. Only time could heal. But i absolutely agree with Bob that the learning curve is steeper in failure as it leaves an anxious brain to strategise improvements. Also i feel it leaves the brain with the thought of 'burnt cat' feeling. I call it so since there is a old saying that if the cat is offered a hot cup of its favorite milk, after burning itself once, it will never ever even dream of milk in that house.
