“Crowdsourcing” has become a popular buzz word to describe the power of many people to accomplish things that were once done by a select few — mainly through the Internet. The term was first coined by Jeff Howe in a Wired magazine article in June 2006 and is the subject of a new book by Howe titled Crowdsourcing: Why the Power of the Crowd is Driving the Future of Business. In this podcast, Howe discusses how Web 2.0 technologies have activated this phenonemom and the business challenges of adopting crowdsourcing.
