bnet_logo.gifYou know what we do at BNET: provide information, advice and insight — plus a little entertainment — to you, the redoubtable manager battling every day to make your team, your organization and yourself more successful.

We hope we’ve been useful to you. Judging by our growing numbers of users, it seems we have. But we’re always looking for ways to improve. That’s why we’d like your help in building a better BNET. Below you’ll find an informal poll, designed to help us do just that. It should only take a few moments and even be a little bit fun.

At the end, please leave your additional comments, telling us just what we’re doing wrong and how you’d do it better if you were us.

Registration. It's gotta be easier. SEO is hard too, I have trouble using Google to find BNET articles.

The business site I visit most frequently isn't on your list: it's the Wall Street Journal. I guess that makes me really mainstream.

registration is the single most onerous thing I hear about on Bnet. Readers actually track me down to email me directly, rather than take the time to register and post on the site.

Check out the responses on the Comments question. Maybe a section labeled "Participate" is not the best way to get readers to do just that. Call it something more familiar, like "Talkback"?

I have started using Plaxo more because it aggregates across several platforms - the Web Troika effect.

business websites I use are mostly industry (healthcare) related. I like the whole of b-net. Leila's videos are good and quick, the on-line programs are good. Keep up the good work!

RE: Help Us Build a Better BNET

I like all the articles that pertain to Sales, Management and ethical dilemmas. One thing I think you could improve upon is the proofreading of your articles before they are published. I see at least one typo each day where words are left out, the incorrect word used, misspellings and so forth. As a professional organization, the grammar and spelling in your articles is a bit less than professional. Reading an article that is concisely written, and free of grammatical errors results in a pleasant 'read', rather than trying to mentally fill in missing words, misspellings and other syntax errors.

Thanks for the great articles for sales and providing information to help me be the best at what I do!

RE: Help Us Build a Better BNET

Can a small company be honest, humble and yet mighty? If so, then I work for the best one around! If I were to make one request it would be to have the opportunity to submit to the BNET community some of the free sage advice we create. I have currently found this to be a challenging task. Innovative and informative business ideas don't always come from the big dogs. wink Right?! Any chance you'll modify the article submission process to make it easier for everyone to play?

Other than that, I look forward to receiving the BNET newsletters in my inbox every day!

    User submissions

Great question, and I have a timely answer that I think you'll like: This week, we launched a tool on BNET that allows any BNET user to submit articles to BNET blogs. We've started initially with our 11 industry blogs on BNET Industries (industry.bnet.com), but we will soon roll this out to all our business and management blogs at BNET Insight. Go to any of our BNET Industry sections and you'll see the "Submit your own post" button. Check it out.

As a quick follow-up, we're also working on making comments easier to make, and more dynamic to participate in. So, stay tuned!

    Best,

    Jeff Davis

RE: Help Us Build a Better BNET

I get frustrated when I click on a link I think is going to be to an article but it turns out to be a video. I access BNET from work and our network set up will not allow the videos to run. Including a script of the video woudl make these more useful.

RE: Help Us Build a Better BNET

I do like the video and podcasts, they are helpful. But the nature of the poll prevents folks from contributing what they really like and dislike. What if I like one blogger but the other is crap?

Or there was a function of the business library that didn't work for me but I like it on the whole.

Your not getting an accurate reflection of what you want to know.

RE: Help Us Build a Better BNET

You make a mistake in believing that all of us are "the redoubtable manager battling every day to make your team, your organization and yourself more successful."

I'm one of the team; I'm not management at all. In fact, I work in an organisation that is not at all well, and whose management (and especially top 'leadership') is often brutal, ill-informed, inefficient and made up of the people on whom the idea of corporate psychopathology was modeled.

I love BNet because it often articulates the way life could be, should be, might be one day if the management I work with ever acknowledges that it needs to improve by a factor of several 100 per cents.

RE: Help Us Build a Better BNET

I am noted in an article that originated in our local Business Journal and is archived on bnet. The article has several inaccuracies and unfortunately, it is one of the first items that comes up when someone google's my name. I have contacted the publication that the article comes from and they say that they have no control over the content that appears on your site. Who can I contact to discuss removing the article from your archives? This issue is very important to me and is particularly time sensitive.
