Do you dread going to work? In this podcast, Edward Muzio, business executive and author of “Four Secrets to Liking Your Work,” says there’s no worse time to look for a new job than when you hate the one you have. Instead, he suggests ways to change your attitude and get to the root of your problems so you can get the most from your current job — and maybe even like it again.

    Liking your work

After reading the email, I was hoping for a bit more content on this subject. Bit hard to comment on such a dearth of information

WHAT THE HECK!! I was expecting an enlightened article and only found a link to Amazon. I expected more from Bnet than shilling for an author or Amazon.

    It's truly a secret

Was there suppose to be something in the blank space between the text and title?

I agree. Why not at least list them. If you did I might follow up and look at the book on Amazon....not now.

It isn't an article, it's an audio clip...try clicking the play button!

Great advice, very much common sense, but we all need reminders to look at how to improve our situation without just looking for a new job.

NOTE: CLICK "PLAY" FOR AUDIO CLIP

If you can't see the audio player (if there's a white space between the headline and text), try refreshing the screen.

    Oh I get it now

I thought the audio player was an ad for some reason I automatically ignore banner ads.

But the audio is really good. Lots of good information. Also, I've discovered that you can search the contents of the audio by typing words into the search box.

I could skip over stuff and get to what was most useful to me. I tried 'skills' and 'learning.'

I didn't even know I could do this.

Nice work BNET, this is a great time saver. Do more of this.

    Joe

And the four secrets are ... !!!

    1. Behavior
    2. Motivation
    3. Task balance
    4. Skills

Great interview. I recommend giving it a listen.

    Wasting my time

Bnet is now on my black list. If you have become nothing more than a gateway to Amazon, then no thanks - I can go there directly when ever I want. I don't need to waste my time in Bnet!

RE: Useful Commute: Four Secrets to Liking Your Work

It is sad that Bnet is devaluing its currency by just showing book marketing instead of substance against a heading - please change this cynical approach or you will lose subscribers in droves - we can see through this stuff easily.

RE: Useful Commute: Four Secrets to Liking Your Work

Regretfully, judging from the other postings, not all of us can see or activate the audio clip. I suspect this may have to do with our respective firewall/filter settings. Although I applaud BNET for using an audio clip, I recommend that they consider that not all can use that medium. Suggest providing both audio and text in the future.

RE: Useful Commute: Four Secrets to Liking Your Work

I was extremely disappointed. I did not expect this to be a promotion for someone's book. A paragraph or two as a teaser
might motivate someone to consider buying the book. Now I'm not
interested, especially after clicking on the book title and being
    directed to Amazon.com to purchase.

    Useful article

Useful in terms of learning: "never get excited about every good link sent to you in an email".

Bnet must know the difference between articles and ads.

Audio clip! Also try likeworkagain dot com

There is much more information in the audio than in the paragraph. Also buried on Amazon is a link to www.likeworkagain.com which as more info

    Note to BNET editors

You should have referenced the audio link in the test of the article.

The audio link did not immediately capture my attention, since it was in a box similar to an advertisement. I overlooked it. Apparently many other people did also.

    BNET IS RESEARCHING THE BUG

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. It appears that several of you were unable to see the audio player in this post. That problem has been resolved, but if any of you are still experiencing issues, please let us know through the link I just added to the post or through the Site Help & Feedback link at the bottom of this page. We'll add a similar note to future podcasts so we can get problems resolved as soon as we hear about them. I went back and added an "In this podcast" note as well, to further cue readers that there should be an audio player if they're not seeing one.

We really appreciate hearing your concerns and comments. Many of our Useful Commute guests are book authors, and when we promote these podcasts, we always aim to promote of the content we're offering, but also to make it easy for you to find out more about the book. Many of you thought we got that balance wrong with this one. We're going to use your feedback to tweak how we promote future podcasts. As we try out some different approaches, please let us know how we're doing: what works, what doesn't, what you'd like to see more of, etc.

    Best,
    Nicole Solis

Very much interesting! It gave insight about the employees perspective and that of the Manager. If only people can adapt these perspectives, I think their value for work would increase very much so!
