bookpic.jpgConcerned about your workplace’s ethics? The ethics of your leadership? You could be in the wrong place, say Ronald Howard and Clinton Korver, authors of “Ethics for the Real World: Creating a Personal Code to Guide Decisions in Work and Life.”

The book shows how to become aware of ethical temptations and compromises that surround us at work and elsewhere, and discusses the fundamentals of ethics logic in order to lead a more fulfilling life.

Writing in BrazenCareerist, Howard and Korver outline the role of ethics in workplace life, and provide a set of questions we should all be asking ourselves before we take on a job, or keep an existing one:

  • Are we comfortable with the temptations we would face in this job?
  • How do the people in the profession behave when faced with temptation?
  • Do enough degrees of separation stand between us and objectionable actions?
  • Do we want to be like the people at the top of this profession?

“Given that leaders set the tone,” the authors ask, “are they ethical role models?”

How would you answer these questions in your present job? What kinds of role models are your leaders? What kind of role model are you?

Does the book address how you determine these characteristics when interviewing? Are there tell-tale questions and answers that let you know you are comfortable with the Ethics and Leadership of the companies you are interviewing with??
