foldershare-trash.jpgA quick heads-up for anyone using FolderShare, the free Microsoft utility that enables you to sync folders across multiple PCs: TechCrunch just reported on a FolderShare bug that Microsoft discovered (and subsequently fixed) that could automatically delete certain files:

The bug, which Microsoft told users about via an email and notice on the site after they fixed it on December 7, auto-deleted files that contain special characters (such as accents, trademark signs, etc.)

I just checked my FolderShare Trash folder, and sure enough, it contains six files that got deleted without my permission. Problem is, I never received this e-mail notification from Microsoft. Am I fuming? Oh, yeah. If you’re a FolderShare user, check your Trash folder to make sure you don’t accidentally lose critical files.
