facebook.jpgFacebook — that’s the social networking site used by college students, right? Not any more: Facebook has evolved into one of the Web’s largest networks, with something like 46 million users. So what does this mean to you and your business? With a little know-how, you can use Facebook as a powerful marketing tool — and the only cost is a bit of your time. MarketingSherpa shows you how to leverage Facebook in eight easy steps, including:

Step #4. Post relevant content
Once your profile is what you want it to be, start building your credibility by adding content to the site. Anything that establishes your authority should be used. This can include:

  • Links to articles you have written
  • Links to articles that quote you
  • Incorporating your industry blog
  • Showing a list of your favorite industry books
  • Having many “friends” from the industry

The key goal here is to establish a professional presence, then start making that presence known through networking. Have you used Facebook to meet new business contacts or generate new business? Share your stories of success in the Comments! [via Marketing Pilgrim]

    Facebook Marketing

We have started marketing on Facebook through the use of Flyers. Since our product is highly visual oriented being a cell phone company (www.heliocorporate.com), we have been very successful with it. They do not have a CPC program as of yet right now and you have to pay using per impression, but I think that is something they are looking to upgrade. Another great feature of Facebook is that it really allows you to target a very specific demographic so you can specify exactly who is looking at your flyer and that is the biggest benefit.

RE: How to Market Yourself on Facebook

I had heard Facebook was facing demise. Is this a rumor? I set up an account, and then removed it. Can you tell me if this venue is experiencing new backing?

    Not today...

Facebook is rapidly turning into a Google-size Internet powerhouse. I can't fathom its demise anytime in the near future.

RE: How to Market Yourself on Facebook

Microsoft just bought 10% of Facebook for $240 Million US. I don't think they'll be closing down anytime soon.
