wowio.jpgWhat’s better than books? Free books! Wowio offers a wide selection of titles, all of them available for download in PDF format, and all of them free. The only catch, if you can call it that, is that you must register with a “non-anonymous” e-mail address (Gmail, Yahoo, and other Web-mail accounts aren’t accepted), a credit card number, or a scanned photo ID. You’re also limited to five e-book downloads per day, though I’d hardly call that a limitation.

Wowio’s collection includes not only the usual assortment of public-domain classics (from Twain, Poe, Shakespeare, etc.), but also a decent library of business and investing titles: 101 Ways to Market Your Business, Flying Solo: How to Go It Alone in Business, Interview Skills that Win the Job, and others. You can browse Wowio by category or search for author, title, etc. Needless to say, anyone who likes to read (and read for free) should check out Wowio. Then do what I do: Grab a PDF reader for your PDA or smartphone and read on the run. [via AppScout]
