For a couple months now I’ve been using TwInbox to track my Twitter account in Outlook. But that’s a somewhat messy solution, as it merely lumps together all inbound tweets.

Xobni to the rescue! The uber-awesome Outlook accessory just added Twitter integration, meaning I can now follow my contacts’ tweets with ease:

As you can see, and as you may recall, Xobni already offered contact-specific integration with Facebook, Hoover’s, and LinkedIn.

The newly added Twitter tab shows you the latest tweets from the selected contact and lets you reply and retweet. You can also follow/unfollow a Twitter contact and post your own status updates — all from within Outlook.

Just when we thought Xobni couldn’t get any more awesome, bam! Seriously, if you’re an Outlook user and you haven’t tried this tool, you’re missing out on a major productivity boost.

As always, Xobni is free, though the new Xobni Plus ($29.95) adds advanced search, advanced filters, support for multiple Outlook PST files, and other features. (My opinion: Most users will be perfectly happy with the free version — though I can’t help thinking this developer deserves some cash!) [via The Download Blog]

    Hi Rick,
I read your article right now and I suppose that you love Xobni. I can say that Xobni brings a lot of social networks together in one thing. That's cool and many people love it.

The big disadvantage is that Xobni is sold as Outlook search-tool and I think that is not correct yet. Its more a tool that gives you your social network news on one view. The developers are going to forget the main function of their tool more and more.

At work I am not able to take Xobni, this would decrease my productivity because I would always look for some news in my twitter-account, facebook ect...
My boss even forbid Xobni to us workers because of that reason.

    Xobni kills productivity.
It's maybe cool for use on a privat computer, but thats all.

At work we use a Outlook searchtool which has it's main function in searching mails. That?s what every company wants and that is a way to increase the productivity.

I think people have to divide the use of such tools in privat-use and business-use, that very important!

I personally don'?want to be connected with other people the whole day, sometimes I want to have my privacy.
This is also very important happy
