Find the Best Cities to Look for Work at Indeed.com

How are you surviving the jobpocalypse? If you’re in the market for a new position, then you might be interested in Indeed.com’s list of best and worst cities to look for a job.

Indeed’s chart shows the ratio of job postings to unemployed people for the 50 most populous cities in the US. The best place to be job hunting? Washington DC, followed by Jacksonville, Florida. Bringing up the rear? Miami and Detroit.

The differences are stark — in DC, for example, there are 6 postings for every job hunter, while Detroit is home to 18 unemployed for every want ad.

I wouldn’t start packing based on this chart alone — there’s no data here about what kinds of careers are prevalent in any of these cities, for example, or how in-demand your own career happens to be. But it’s good intelligence nonetheless. [via TechCrunch]
