windows-live-skydrive.jpgMicrosoft tends to make pretty boring choices when it comes to naming stuff, so imagine my surprise upon discovering that Windows Live Folders — the company’s online-storage service — had been renamed Windows Live SkyDrive. Now that’s a name! The service itself is attractive and robust, offering personal, shared, and public folders; drag-and-drop file uploading; password protection; and compatibility with both Windows and Mac systems and Internet Explorer and Firefox. The only downside? Microsoft gives you just 500MB of storage space. Hey, I’m not one to look a gift online hard drive in the mouth, but you can get 5 gigabytes of storage from loads of other services (including MyDataBus.com, XDrive, etc.). Even so, SkyDrive is worth a look if you want fast and easy file sharing/storage. [via Windows Live SkyDrive Team Blog]
