I think it goes without saying that the greatest invention since the mouse is the mouse wheel. I can’t comfortably operate a computer without one.

Most users know that the wheel makes for quick and easy scrolling in Web pages and documents. But you may not have known that Office 2007 has a little mouse-wheel trick up its sleeve. Watch and learn (in full-screen mode for the best experience):

Okay, so it’s not an earth-shattering trick, but now that I’ve discovered it, I’m using it all the time. And it reminds me of another mouse-wheel hack I absolutely positively can’t live without: WizMouse, a free utility that makes the scroll wheel work wherever your mouse is pointed.

You can also us the wheel to scroll in and out of a Word, Excel or PowerPoint document by holding down the CTRL button on the keyboard at the same time as scrolling up or down (zoom in/out)
