You might not always want an e-mail to go the moment you click Send. You might write an e-mail in advance, but want to synchronize its delivery with a certain event, like when your team launches a new project. Or, your company’s corporate culture might frown on late-night e-mail to preserve the illusion of that elusive “work/life balance,” so you want to schedule all your messages to depart in the AM.

Whatever the reason, we’ve got a short video here just for these kinds of situations. Watch and learn how to program Outlook to schedule the delivery of your e-mail for any time you like. Keep in mind, though, that Outlook will need to be running at the time that the e-mail is scheduled to go out.

    Delayed Delivery

Doesn't the application actually have to be open to succeed at the delayed delivery? In my experience, emails stay within the Outlook client, not up on the server when that option is selected.

@AllesK: That's why the post says "Keep in mind, though, that Outlook will need to be running at the time that the e-mail is scheduled to go out."
