oprius.jpgLooking for an online contact manager? Start with Big Contacts, which I wrote about a while back. True to its name, it’s an impressively “big” service. Web Worker Daily has the scoop on five others, including Highrise, Plaxo, and still-in-development Oprius:

This webapp actually aims to be an all-in-one personal organizer solution, very similar to the popular ACT! desktop software. It has a calandar, task manager, email program and contacts manager. The contacts app isn’t bad, with a nice interface, easy to use and fast.

This is worthwhile reading for anyone shopping for the ideal Internet Rolodex. Of course, as the article concludes, there really isn’t one yet — but at least the options are expanding. Somebody’s sure to hit it out of the park before long (I’m looking at you, Google).

Got a tech dilemma? We're here to help.

    LDAP

I have been a Plaxo subscriber for years but their software
crippled windows web logons so I had to not use their toolbar for
outlook express. Then again, I have stopped using windows for
contact-related stuff (like email) entirely. So ...

I have suggested to them, and urge the others like "Big" and
"Oprius" to do so as well: Provide and industry standard interface
that everyone can use: LDAP. With this, I can use these services
with most better email programs, contact managers and even
Outlook. Proprietary and (sub-)standard cell phone stuff can be
    dealt with separately, I suppose.
