Round these parts, we’re not big fans of Adobe Reader — a limbering, bloated whale of a program that also annoys you with frequent, needless updates. Why not ditch Adobe and use a free, lightweight alternative like Perfect PDF instead?

Perfect PDF has a modern look, complete with an Office 2007-like ribbon packed with common tools and commands. You can choose from among several views (including a full-screen mode) and it’s easy to save selected text and images out of the PDF you’re viewing.

I like Perfect PDF, but don’t forget that there’s a veritable cottage industry of Adobe Reader alternatives. You might also want to check out our long-time favorite, Foxit Reader. Or, if you’re really in the mood to explore, check out some other free alternatives to Adobe Reader.
