The html2pdf extension for Firefox does exactly what you think: turns whatever Web page you’re viewing into a PDF. That’s an insanely handy alternative to saving pages in native HTML format or using one of the various print-to-PDF solutions, which can have unpredictable results with Web sites. Not a Firefox user? No worries: There’s another way to get this capability.

After installing html2pdf (which is technically an “experimental” add-on, and therefore requires signing into the Firefox add-ons site), all you do is click the little Adobe Reader-looking icon in the bottom right corner of your browser.

Doing so opens a new window. After about 30 seconds, you’ll see a thumbnail of the newly converted page and a link for downloading the PDF.

As you may notice, html2pdf is merely an extension front-end for a service called htm2pdf, which lets you create PDFs just by pasting the URL of a Web site. Or, you can drag this htm2pdf bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar, thereby gaining Web-to-PDF functionality in any browser.

In fact, I’d argue that this is the way to go even in Firefox: Why bog it down with yet another add-on when there’s a perfectly good bookmarklet that does the same thing? [via Killer Tech Tips]
