Gadget Lust: LaCie itsaKey USB Flash Drive

Arguably the most remarkable thing about the LaCie itsaKey is that no one thought of it before. Put simply, it’s a USB flash drive that’s shaped like a key, meaning it’s a perfect addition to your keyring.

But there’s something even more surprising about this nifty bit of portable storage. Find out what after the jump.

The price. As regular Business Hacks readers know, I’m something of a cheapskate. I fully expected LaCie to charge a small fortune for a “designer” USB key like this one, but you can snag the 4GB drive for a very reasonable $14.99.

Unfortunately, it’s out of stock at the moment. But the 8GB itsaKey is available for $23.99, also a reasonable price.

The drive is made of metal, so it should stay firmly affixed to your keyring. That solves a longstanding problem I’ve had with flash drives: Their plastic eyehooks routinely break right off. Consequently, I’m breaking out the credit card and ordering one of these right now.

What do you think? Is this the flash drive you’ve been waiting for? [via jkOnTheRun]

It looks not much thicker than the USB port itself so it will solve one of my problems -- trying to shoehorn a thumb drive into a stacked port next to another device that's taking up more than its fair share of space.

Excellent point. I also find that to be a problem with many USB drives.

OK, so it fits on your keyring and looks like keys, but I keep my keys in my pocket which is where I usually end up keeping my lint. So, lint in pocket = lint in USB drive = lint in USB port = $1500 paperweight, no?

    I agree with scottb50...

    No cap?

You should see how my keys look like, all battered with your everyday wear and tear.
