freehands.jpgProblem: It’s winter. Your hands are cold. But you need to tap out an e-mail or text message on your phone. Solution: Freehands gloves, which have flip-back tips that expose your thumbs and index fingers for easy tap-typing.

Ingenious! Unlike other gloves with “hinged” fingertips, Freehands have little magnets that keep the tips from flopping around and getting in the way. They’re available in three styles — fleece, stretch, and leather ($20, $30, and $40, respectively) — and your choice of sizes, but it looks like the only color option is brown (though it’s hard to tell from the photos, and the site doesn’t say).

Freehands says the gloves will start shipping in mid-November. You can pre-order now, but your card won’t be charged until shipment. Seeing as I’m in the market for a new pair of gloves anyway, I’m definitely going to pick up a pair. I live to text-message, but I also hate having cold hands. It’s win-win! [via Crave]
