One of Vista’s lesser-known but decidedly valuable features is the Snipping Tool, which lets you capture a screenshot of just about anything: a window, an entire screen, or a hand-selected area. In the above tutorial video, Vista product manager Esther Choi shows you the finer points of using the tool.
I have to say, this is a great little feature. Normally, my method for capturing, say, a company logo or product image is to hit the Print Screen key, paste the screen into IrfanView, crop my desired area, and then save it. The Snipping Tool saves a couple steps, and it’s one less program I have to install. Okay, so I wouldn’t upgrade to Vista just to get it, but it’s definitely a nice amenity for those already there.
