If you’ve ever wished your inbox could be more organized but lacked the time or discipline to make it happen, here’s your solution: ClearContext keeps your Outlook inbox organized by providing single-click filing of messages and conversations.

This is one of those things that’s better demonstrated than explained, so I’m going to let the promo video up top do the heavy lifting. It’s worth watching, because it’s not immediately clear how to start using ClearContext after you install it.

In fact, at first I didn’t think it was working, but it turns out the software doesn’t currently support IMAP – and I use an IMAP-powered Gmail account in Outlook. ClearContext also has difficulty working alongside Xobni, my all-time favorite Outlook add-in, so I don’t know if this is a keeper for me.

That said, I know ClearContext has tons of fans, so it’s worth a try if you’re an organization-strapped Outlook user. ClearContext Personal is free; it works with Outlook 2003 and 2007.

    Returned to XOBNI

I tried ClearContext and found its benefit was outweighed by the trouble to use the software. I am also a big Xobni fan and de-installed ClearContext. I don't miss it.

If it doesn't work with Xobni I don't want it

    ATT All above

I am interested in what sort of work you do. I trialled Xobni and found that although interesting it did only get in the way of my work. I can guess at whether it would be useful for particular roles but that's only my guess.

If you could let me know what sort of role you fulfil and the size, sector or brief description of your company that would be really interesting to me.
