google-maps-for-mobile.jpgThe mobile version of Google Maps has been “location aware” since last November, meaning it could pinpoint your location using either your phone’s built-in GPS or cell-tower triangulation. Alas, Palm Centro users couldn’t enjoy the location love; they had to input their positions manually (the horror!).

As of today, the Centro owners can tap a new version of Google Maps for Mobile that automatically displays your approximate location — very handy for when you’re trying to navigate to somewhere but don’t know exactly where you are. As always, Google Maps for Mobile costs nada. [via Palm Infocenter]

Update: Sigh. It appears the My Location feature is available only for AT&T and Verizon subscribers. Those of us using Sprint will have to wait until “this summer.” (Hey, Palm, I just checked my calendar: It’s “this summer” right now!)
