genbook.jpgLast week I told you about Acuity, a new service that lets clients schedule their own appointments with you via a Web-based interface. My only complaint was that site seemed like a work in progress. If you had similar concerns, check out Genbook, a similar appointment-scheduling service with a more “Web 2.0″ interface.

A free Genbook account entitles you to unlimited online scheduling, unlimited staff/service offerings, a Book Now button you can embed on your site (or a site like Craigslist), and even optional solicitation of customer reviews. If you want text-message notification of new appointments, an online customer database, and support for credit-card transactions, you’ll need to upgrade to a Standard account ($39.95 monthly).

I haven’t tried Genbook myself, but it looks like a solid way to provide appointment scheduling to your customers. It would be nice if you could embed the actual calendar into your site as with Acuity, but otherwise I’d say Genbook has the edge in features and finesse.

Hey Rick, this is a fine post. Have you ever looked at the companies that flip the equation, though, and give you a web-based scheduling solution for you to use with your staff (full time, contract, contingent, temp, whatever)?

I've been doing a small project for Shiftboard in Seattle and have been scouring the market for folks in their space. Just wondering what you're seeing out there.

I believe small business should not be charged for online appointment scheduling. I would recommend http://www.servemehere.com to offerr unlimed online appointment scheduling, staff, text message alert, online appointment button and free advertising of your business
