The best mobile Web-browsing experience, bar none, comes from the iPhone. Users of all other phones should check out Opera Mini 4.1, the latest version of the free, popular portable browser. Among the new features:

  • It’s up to 50 percent faster than version 4.0.
  • It will automatically suggest URL completions, making address input easy and intuitive.
  • Web pages can be saved for later off-line viewing.
  • Images, ringtones, and other content can be downloaded without leaving Opera Mini.

Opera Mini promises compatibility with just about every mobile phone, though not all features are guaranteed to work on all models. (Note to Palm Treo/Centro users: Opera Mini requires Java Virtual Machine, which, inexplicably, Palm no longer offers. If you don’t already have it, a little Google searching should help you track it down.)

You can see Opera Mini 4.1 in action up above.

    Opera Mini for Ocean PDA

The Opera Mini is one of the secret treasures of our office here. The Opera Mini is really good for internet searching and is just like having a mini-laptop. It's so nice that Helio actually went to Opera to design a specific Opera Browser just for our flagship PDA phone the Helio Ocean.

I agree that Opera is a fantastic browser but I definitely disagree that "The best mobile Web-browsing experience, bar none, comes from the iPhone." Using the iPhone on AT&T's wireless data network is a terribly slow experience, akin to a dial-up modem. Browser functionality is irrelevant when you have to wait several minutes for a page to load. To be fair, the device does operate much better when using Wi-Fi (as demonstrated in all iPhone commercials).

Tabbed browsing, Quick Find, fraud protection, saved sessions, Speed Dial, notes and the trash make from Opera Browser, a browser more better than it was. Significant speed allow you to spend more time online. I installed it, it works very well and i got it from here: Opera Browser
