Use AppSnap to Manage Your Freeware

Here at Business Hacks, we often suggest downloading free applications (like, say, Gimp) to make your work life easier. But because they’re often open source software, it can be hard to figure out whether you’ve got the latest and best versions of them running on your PC. Over at Web Worker Daily, they suggest that Windows users download AppSnap, a little program that analyzes your applications and lets you know whether you’ve got the most up-to-date versions. If you don’t, it points you to them and lets you download them right away.
