Not looking forward to the Ides of April? A new startup called Sexat (”Taxes” backwards, get it?) has worked out a deal to let you SMS your 1099s and W2s directly to the IRS—no H&R Block schmoe needed. All you have to do is follow the simple guidelines on the IRS’s website. Basically, you type in your annual income, a space, number of dependents, a space, and then your social security number and send it to 1(800) EASY-IRS. Sexat takes care of the rest! (If you’re using a smart phone with a full keyboard, you can download Sexat’s OMFG feature, which allows you to add in personalized deductions instead of relying on their generalized algorithm.)

Already implemented in Sweden
You've been able to do this in Sweden for the last couple of years. It's working
fine as far as I know, even though I've never tried it myself (I use the web option
instead).
