google-search-plug-in.jpgSearch the Web in a flash with a new Google plug-in for Windows Mobile PDAs and smartphones. The software adds a Google search box to the Today screen, thus saving you the hassle of manually starting Internet Explorer, navigating to Google, etc.

Just point your device’s browser to mobile.google.com and you’ll see the option to download the plug-in. From there it’s a simple matter to add it to your Today screen (one of the admittedly few features I’ve always liked about Windows Mobile).

If you own an E-series or N-series Nokia phone, Google offers a similar home-screen shortcut. As for Palm Centro/Treo users, the closest you can get is the third-party PhotoDial launcher, which features built-in Google search. [via jkOnTheRun]
