Steve Jobs says people don’t read books anymore? I say: hogwash. Proof positive is the server-busting popularity of TextOnPhone, a new service that serves up perfectly formatted e-books on iPhone and iPod Touch screens. You can see it in action in the above video, courtesy of jkOnTheRun.

As an avid reader and the proud owner of an iPod Touch, I am positively giddy over this news. Though you can’t flip pages by swiping your finger across the screen (which would be so sweet), you can choose from thousands of titles and read them free of charge.

Okay, how about it, Steve? Ready to add e-books to iTunes? I’ve got cash in hand.
