As if it weren’t tough enough to focus the shell-shocked employees still remaining on your staff, spring is coming. To the rescue is Edward Lawler, University of Southern California management professor and author of “Talent: Making People Your Competitive Advantage.”

Lawler recommended five books for improving productivity in tough times for the Wall Street Journal. They are:

“Diamond Dollars: The Economics of Winning in Baseball” by Vincent Gennaro
“The Human Side of Enterprise” by Douglas McGregor
“The Knowing-Doing Gap: How Smart Companies Turn Knowledge into Action” by Jeffrey Pfeffer and Robert I. Sutton
“Leaders: Strategies for Taking Charge” by Warren Bennis and Burt Nanus
“Who Says Elephants Can’t Dance?” by Louis V. Gerstner Jr.

Happy Motivating!
