President-elect Barack Obama has his economic team largely in place, and there’s much buzz about the next edition of Regulators Gone Wild.  In other words, the size of Financial Stimulus II, a second gigantic stimulus to get the economy going again. Here’s a nice summary of the events of the week from Slate’s Big Money column, including the bailout of Citigroup and the selection of Obama’s team, as well as speculation on whether Larry Summers will replace Ben Bernanke as Fed Chair in January 2010. President-elect Obama’s advisors apparently are telling him that we need to spend from $400 billion to $700 billion more to stabilize our economy.

What do you think we should do with the money?

This was emailed to me and seemed to be related to this post:

How do idiots get into position of power? If the economy depends on Americans spending like there's no tomorrow then the bailouts need to go directly to them, not finance houses. Forgive and write-off past debts (they're not going to be collected anyway) and put the money in the hands of those who know what needs to be done and who will do it fast.

Create this Centuries version of the CCC, this will put folks to work and create improvements in the things we take for granted, ie, BRIDGES not falling down!

Also I think he should create the Peace Corps or something like that again, offer Student Loan write-offs for teachers that go to Inner-cities or Rural areas for 5 years, or re-institute the Draft, that will end the wars as the politicians won't want their kids dying for their Country.
