Top ten lists on blogs often represent cynical efforts to get more traffic. They may make a few good points, but mostly spout pablum.  But there are good ones. The newspaper management guru Jill Geisler has assembled a list of Ten Things Great Bosses Know that draw from columns she’s written in the last decade. She makes quick summaries of her points about leadership tactics, like emotional intelligence, the value of coaching, and how to manage change. Then she links to deeper looks at each of the topics, avoiding the typical blog problem of having great headlines and not much else. While she’s writing for newsroom leaders, her points should work well for most managers.
