Global Services made its year-end preview issue good for the next three. The magazine, which is dedicated primarily to outsourcing (full disclosure: I have written for this magazine in the past), Outsourcing 2010 special report features essays by 18 industry figures.
All of the essays are from the perspective of the writer, which means some of them may be no more than a preview of the sales pitch you’ll hear from certain leading outsourcing vendors. But the universe of outsourcing issues is here in one place, with key predictions highlighted for each topic.
The special report includes authoritative discussions on a number of topics. I’ll highlight five of the broadest:
- the likely salary trends in outsourcing nations (The Future of Offshore Wages)
- the impact of foreign currency fluctuation, which will shift what things cost, and likely will cause outsourcing vendors will focus more on Europe and Japan than the U.S.
- Gartner’s assessment of the issues customers raise with outsourcing and what may emerge as possible solutions.
- recruiter John Challenger’s take on the real impact outsourcing has had on technology employment in the U.S.
- an assessment of H1-b in light of broader immigration issues.
The magazine then makes 10 broad predictions for outsourcing as an industry.
For companies thinking about or involved with outsourcing (and what company isn’t?), there’s almost certainly something of note here.
