The headline of this entry may make you ask: Why? Today is Cyber Monday — the Internet’s equivalent of Black Friday. The difference between the two is that Monday is a work day, whilst Black Friday generally falls on a day off. One consulting firm even pinned down how much time each white collar worker spends buying goods on company time: 12 minutes according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. of Chicago.
Online shopping on Cyber Monday this year is expected to outpace last year by 21% and while “Cyber Monday” is a little recognized moniker amongst general consumers, retailers are well aware of it — 72% of retailers with an online presence plan to offer deep discounts today.
So, while you’re ruminating on today’s flurry, I think I’ll be looking for a low-cost digicam for my mother. Surely nothing can cure the ‘Mondays’ more than a little little online retail therapy.
