Or do you include foreign media? It may surprise you that The Guardian’s website (yes the one based in the U.K.) draws in more traffic from the U.S. than its home country (6.6 million vs. 4.4 million, respectively)

The U.K. Guardian joins the BBC in expanding their reach in the U.S. market; the BBC brings in another 6.4 million U.S. visitors a month. Times Editor Robert Thomson says “U.S. readers want and need sophisticated global political and economic coverage,” and one in two polled news watchers in the U.S. rated media coverage in the U.S. as either “fair” or “poor.”

    Foreign Press

We live in a global world and if we are to do business offshore we need to look at all the media outlets globally as we do here in the United States. Helio is a great exampls of this as they do business in South Korea and recently in the United States to bring cutting edge devices to the US market. They have two seperate divisions that individually look at media from both the United States and South Korea in this way they are able to keep up to date on the developments in their local markets.

RE: Why Focus on Foreign Press?

YEAH BUT HOW DO YOU GET YOUR PRESS RELEASES INTO THOSE TYPES OF PAPERS AND WILL THEY SEE THEM AS RELEVANT?

MAYBE THE BIG BOYS BUT WHAT ABOUT A MID SIZE CO?

    Its Not that hard!!

I work for a small sized company, and we find it very easy to get good PR in other countries, most of our earnings are in export now from this strategy. Easy solution: Find good editors internationally and give them a call! tell them about your story and how it relates to their country and get their deatils to email/fax them. Then when you have a Press release ready you have a good contact list to send out across the world.
    easy.
