“Trust” image by MrJohnEngelWho can you trust? According to business leaders, the industry that has the least ‘trust capital’ in the States is insurance. Retail banking takes the cake for “most trusted.”

The Unisys-sponsored study of 1,700 business leaders found that perceptions of certain services and industries differ widely between the U.K. and the States. In the U.S., government is trusted very little, but U.K. respondents thought local government is the third most trustworthy of entities. In the U.S., healthcare is highly trusted — trailing closely behind the #1 retail banking industry. Healthcare in the U.K., on the other hand, is the second least trusted industry.

One particularly interesting result of the poll: The airline industry is one of the top untrustworthy companies (coming in at #4). That’s bad news for an industry that recently bumped fares up after Southwest decided to raise fares due to increasing fuel costs.
